The State of Digital Multimedia Evidence Today
Detective Ed Baker, Tacoma, WA PD
Ed Baker is a 27 year veteran of Law Enforcement. He is currently working as a Detective in the Career Crimes Unit for the Tacoma Police Department. Ed was instrumental in creating his department’s first Forensic Video Unit in 2003. Since that time Ed helped solve several high profile homicide and robbery investigations for several law enforcement agencies using his skills as a Certified Forensic Video Analyst.
Ed is one of the first analysts to complete his Certification in Forensic Video Analysis through the Law Enforcement and Emergency Services Video Association (LEVA) program at the University of Indianapolis. Ed now owns his own forensic video company Video Consultants NW, conducting private forensic video consulting and analysis.
Ed served as President and Vice President for LEVA in 2007-2009. Ed assists LEVA as a lab assistant with the certification program courses at the University of Indianapolis and helped co author LEVA’s Best Practices Document for the Recovery of Digital Multimedia Evidence.

Working Break Out Sessions:
Attendees will be divided into eight working groups and rotate through the following working sessions to provide a highly interactive environment where attendees can work directly with our development team to learn about the integrated AXON/Evidence.com systems and to provide feedback for improvements.

Session 1 – Agency IT infrastructure, internal network, bandwidth & telecommunications

This session focuses on the existing IT infrastructure at attending agencies and how the AXON system will function in these diverse environments, including broad discussion of API’s and system integration.

Session 2 – Digital Evidence: Technology Meets Law

This session focuses on the legal requirements for the handling of digital evidence. The Evidence.com approach will be discussed relating to legal and industry standards. Participants are encouraged to provide feedback regarding local and state legal requirements.

Session 3 – Strategic Objectives and Future Directions

Attendees will learn the overall strategy behind the AXON – Evidence.com systems and discuss our future direction, as well as future needs of the law enforcement community.

Attendees will receive an in-depth demonstration of the Evidence.com system and key modules and have the opportunity to provide feedback on features and functions.

Security, redundancy, scalability, and reliability are paramount concerns with critical evidence data. This session provides a detailed review of these topics and elicits unique requirements of specific agencies.

Session 7 – Software Development Process, Architecture & Quality Control

Attendees will have the opportunity to review the software development process, quality control, and plans for software release management.

Session 8 – Business Services Modeling
